Last day before our trip to the US

I went all over town today buying a few last minute items before we take off to the US for a few weeks. I have already written down what I'm going to do when I get to California and it is all centered around food.

I love Italian food and cook it at least 80% of the time, but now that I'm going back to the US, I probably won't be eating any Italian food at all. My list of types of food includes: Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Korean, and Mexican. I'm dying for dim sum and sushi.

We have Chinese, Japanese, and even some Mexican food here in Florence, but there's nothing like these foods in California. I wouldn't, of course, know how authentic these cuisines are in California since I have never eaten them in their respective countries. But, I certainly enjoy them a lot.

On our last night in Florence, Dave and I went to a small trattoria that just opened back up on via dei Pilastri. I think it was the first time that I had been in a trattoria in Florence where there wasn't a single non-local.

We enjoyed our last meal of Italian food. Dave had a pizza and I had homemade pasta with fiori di zucca (zucchini flowers) and porcini mushrooms.

I walked the streets near our house and already felt nostalgic. I'm going to miss the look, smell, and sounds of my neighborhood.
