Le Musée Marmottan

No visit to Paris is ever complete without seeing the Eiffel tower. We were planning on taking the elevator up to the second and possibly third level, but the wait was too long this afternoon, so we just walked up to it and then walked to Trocadéro, where I took this photo. Before going to the Eiffel tower, we visited the Musée Marmottan in the 16th.

For someone, like me, who loves Monet's water lilies, this museum is fantastic. I almost find it a little overwhelming to have so many of the water lilies together because I just can't decide which ones I like best. There must have been about twenty of them in one room, sitting side by side with only a few feet between each one.

At this museum though, pictures were not allowed. A guard was sneaking up behind people telling them to put their cameras away. One Japanese woman almost snapped a shot of the "Soleil Levant" until he tapped her on the shoulder and said, "No photo."

What I love about this museum is the ability to sit in front of the paintings and just get lost in them. I can almost feel the water moving and the sun shimmering off of it.

The Musée Marmottan is not the easiest museum to get to, but it was well worth the two métro trains we had to take and the walk through the park.
