Florence as a harmonious city

Some days, the harmony between my beloved city and Mother Nature are so riveting that it takes my breath away. This morning when I headed out for a run and was walking on Ponte alle Grazie, I couldn’t help but stare at the Torre di San Niccolò. A dark cloud (one of the only ones in the sky) was hovering overhead and rays of sunshine were piercing through the sky shedding bright yellow beams of light down on the torre. It was one of those rare moments when I expected to hear angels to be singing.

It is interesting how beauty inspires and uplifts us. I definitely feel so different here in Florence. Being surrounded by the city’s monuments, buildings, and bridges along with the four elements that bring the city to life.

After being in Las Vegas for a week, I realized that even if one tires to duplicate the monuments and the buildings, the spirit of the city couldn’t be reproduced.

It’s like when I saw the David in Piazza della Signoria. It appears like any other statue, but its soul is missing. When I saw the David at the Accademia, I could feel its energy. It’s impossible to not be affected by it.

When I am in Florence, I try to soak up as much of the city as possible. It’s not like I can take it with me, but I try to enjoy it as much as possible and appreciate it while I can. I take photos of it, but I rarely look at them afterwards.

My stays in Florence seem short, but they are definitely packed with joy. Whether I'm meeting up with friends, walking through the streets, running down the Arno, or just sitting in my apartment looking out at the city, I am touched, honored, and overjoyed.
