It didn't take me long at all to fall in love with my new apartment. The picture shown is the view from my window, and it's the same view I see from my desk while I'm working. I had been wanting to look out at something after spending last year looking at a wall, and the two years before looking out at rooftops. Now, I get to see people and cars, and I feel as if I am truly living in the city.
I don't see any monuments except from my terrazza (terrace) where I see the top of the Palazzo Vecchio and the Duomo, but I love looking out at the Arno river. There is something peaceful and enchanting about it even though the water is green right now.
I moved a lot of the furniture around, and carefully positioned my scrivania (desk) so that I have a great view.
I'll need a few days before I feel completely at ease here, but I am extremely comfortable in my new apartment and it feels wonderful. I also love the fact that via dei Neri is right around the corner, so I can pop out and shop for things that I need. And, I'm very fortunate because a small supermercato (supermarket) just opened up a few months ago down the street, so I don't have to walk all the way to Standa.
I was a little worried that I might not like my new place because it is much smaller than my old place, but it fits me just right.
