Back to Paris

This morning I walked to Vivoli for a cappuccino and pasta (pastry). I hadn’t been there to have colazione (breakfast) in a long time, so it was a wonderful treat for me today. The skies were grey and it was raining lightly, but I still wanted to stroll the streets. I was leaving for Paris at lunchtime and wanted to walk around my beloved city before I left. I love traveling, but I always get a little sad when I have to leave Florence, my marito (husband), my friends, and my life.

Living in Florence :: Back to Paris

After colazione, I walked to Ponte alle Grazie. I brought along my camera, but didn’t end up taking any photos. I stood against the railing to look at the Ponte Vecchio on one side of the ponte (bridge) and then turned around to see San Miniato. I enjoyed listening to the water flowing underneath the ponte because it filled me with serenity.

I know that once I get to Paris, my whole life changes. I don’t get to walk around as much as I like to because of my schedule, but also because I always take the métro when I need to get somewhere.

I left behind the rain and arrived to a somewhat sunny Paris earlier today. After I settled into the apartment near the Eiffel Tower, I took the métro to the Concorde. I walked down rue de Rivoli and headed toward the Louvre.

In my area, not much is open except for a few cafés, restaurants, pastry shops, and touristy shops. The last time I was here, I went to the Marais on Sunday where shops opened up in the afternoon. My friends told me that there was a small shopping center under the Louvre that’s open on Sundays, so I decided to check it out.

I would’ve liked to visit the Louvre, but I arrived too late. I was excited to see the shopping center because I was told there was an Apple Store and Starbuck’s. I was eager to see them both since I’ve never seen either one outside of the US before. Of course, they were exactly the same as they are in the States.

After I looked around, I headed back out of the Louvre by exiting under the glass Pyramid and walked down rue de Rivoli to the Concorde. I could’ve taken the métro at a stop that was closer to the Louvre, but I wanted to take in as much of the city as I could. I know that when tomorrow comes, I’ll be on a tight schedule and won’t be able to enjoy the city as much as I’d like.
