From Florence to Memphis

The few days before I was to leave Florence for the US, I felt a twinge of sadness. I walked past the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, and through Piazza Repubblica a few times during the week and silently said "Arrivederci."

I had managed to see all my friends by Friday so that Saturday was my free day in Florence to finish up some errands and prepare myself for my trip.

I have never been to Memphis before and I'm looking forward to it. If it weren't for the conferences that I usually go to annually, I wouldn't be able to visit some parts of the US and Canada that I've never been to. I have already been able to go to Vancouver, Santa Fe, and New Orleans. I have also been fortunate enough to visit cities I already know too like San Francisco and San Diego.

The splash screen on my computer is a photo I took of the Ponte Vecchio last year. It makes me happy each time I see it. I will try not to miss Florence too much as my time in the US is quite limited as well. I'd like to enjoy my trip as much as possible and not long for Florence. Besides, Alessandro is coming from Florence next Friday to meet me in San Francisco. It'll be like having a piece of Florence accompanying me for the rest of the time in the US.
