As I was sitting at my desk working this evening, I looked out the window and noticed that someone put lights on a large tree. Because I haven't bought an albero di natale (Christmas tree), I was happy to see this one across the Arno river shining brightly.
The sky had cleared up from yet another foggy morning. The sun came out a little later in the morning and shined brightly all afternoon. Unfortunately, I saw it mostly from my desk as I kept working on my computer. I love looking at the Arno at night because it looks so romantic with the reflection of the street lights shimmering on it.
I especially love taking pictures of my city when I have to stay in my apartment to work. It's almost as if it's a reward for not going outside where I would be enjoying the Christmas lights that have been strung over many streets in centro (downtown) and the albero di natale that has been placed in Piazza Repubblica.
I have been staying in quite a bit lately and only going out to go to the mercato and other shops near my house to buy food. I don't think I've had a chance to sit down and enjoy a caffè (coffee) and a long chat with a friend in quite a while. Maybe next week I'll have time to enjoy the city a bit more, but for now, it's time to go back to work while intermittently glancing up at the albero di natale .
