Well, today is the most perfect of days! We woke up to beautiful sunshine (which isn't unusual), but the air was mildly cool instead of bitterly cold. I sat outside for the first time today on the terrace to write. I closed my eyes and sat there facing the sun. It quickly warmed me up from the inside out.
This is the perfect time of year, the sun is shining brightly, not a cloud in the sky, the air is warming up, the windows all wide open, and not a single mosquito to be seen or heard.
Unfortunately, many of my flowers on the terrace died from the snow and frost over the past few weeks, so it's time to plant some new ones that are ready for Spring and eventually the long Summer days to come.
When I went outside to go shopping I didn't have to wear a sweater, zip up my down jacket, or wear or scarf. It felt great to be so open again after so many months of being bundled up. People were smiling more when I saw them walking on the sidewalks and in the streets. Music was blaring from open windows and the mood seemed lighter.
People seem to be everywhere even on streets that aren't well frequented. I haven't gone to the center or even Piazza di Santa Croce yet, but I'm sure all the outdoor cafés are packed with people enjoying the sun and watching everyone walk by.
Later this afternoon, I hope to take a walk outside just to see how busy the streets are. This is my favorite time of year. A time when people wake up from the long and cold Winter to enjoy the air, the sun, and the warmth.
